Sharp Coronado is a 181-bed hospital located in Coronado, California. Our acute care departments consist of (7 bed ICU, 52 bed Medical/Surgical/Telemetry, 8 Emergency Department beds, 3 Surgery suites and 1 procedural room) and have been recognized for promoting a unique and holistic experience to patient empowerment, quality care, patient and family education and integrative therapies. This patient-centered model of health care encourages healing in all dimensions (mental, emotional, spirtual, social and physical). In 2012, Sharp Coronado achieved Planetree’s most prestigious award, “Planetree Designation with Distinction.”

This position is accountable for planning, directing and coordinating the operations and system integration of all departments that report to the Director, Acute/Critical Care. We are looking a dynamic candidate who is motivated to mentor, lead quality initiatives and foster the evolution of patient-centered, evidence-based practice and innovation while demonstrating collegial interdisciplinary relationships and teamwork. This person will have demonstrated experience operating as a change catalyst that develops their team and works collaboratively with others. In addition, this position requires a visionary capable of providing long and short-range plans, achieve superior financial, quality, customer services and clinical outcomes for assigned areas.

Job Requirements

Education, training, experience:

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing

  • Masters Degree in Nursing or (provide validation of enrollment in a master’s program)

  • Current California Registered Nurse licensure

  • Five years recent nursing management experience with at least two years supervising multiple units/departments

  • Exceptional communication skills

  • Expert knowledge of professional nursing practice, including trends and issues

  • Demonstrated success in oversight of operational and fiscal responsibilities

  • Ability to exhibit critical thinking, manage time and stress well in high profile environment

Physical Requirements:

Incumbent spends up to 5 hours sitting; up to 4 hours repetitive use of hand(s), keyboarding, mousing and/or writing; up to 2 ½ hours grasping/handling; up to 90 minutes of neck flexion/extension; up to 120 minutes walking or standing., and up to 5 minutes twisting (waist); bending (waist) squatting; pinching/fingering; pushing & pulling, reaching (above shoulder level).
