Mechanical Circulatory Support Manager

In this position, you will be responsible for the provision of clinical care in facilitating and coordinating the evaluation of end-stage cardiac or pulmonary failure patients requiring Mechanical Circulatory Support (MCS) Devices, as well as managing the post-implant phase of patient care including outpatient services.

You will be responsible for supervising and directing the MCS staff (NP’s, PA’s, and RN’s) in the performance of their responsibilities; ensuring the program complies with all regulatory requirements including data submission to the national VAD registry (INTERMACS), The Joint Commission Destination VAD Disease Specific Certification Program, CCRMP, STS and any additional agency requirements related to this patient population; and coordinating multiple hospital and out-patient services for VAD and ECLS patients and their families.

The MCS Program Manager is a Nurse Practitioner who will serve as the Medical Center’s primary resource for National standards regarding advances in MCS devices and the subsequent potential for expansion of program services; oversee quality improvement initiatives and data collection; provide strategic program planning; participate in research, marketing, outreach and education activities; and serve as the primary champion and steward for the fiscal status of the program and ensure appropriate charges, supply management and personnel productivity within budgetary specifications.

Job Requirements

Education, training, experience:
Requires Master’s degree in nursing; graduation from an accredited adult/family/acute care nurse practitioner program; 1-2 years’ VAD/MCS experience with demonstrated clinical competence and in-depth knowledge of the clinical care for patients receiving MCS devices; 2-3 years’ nursing experience in a cardiovascular ICU, critical care or coronary care unit setting; BCLS and ACLS certification; demonstrated competence and in-depth knowledge in the operations of MCS devices and associated equipment; demonstrated effective leadership/management, team building, teaching and communication skills; and highly motivated, self-directed and demonstrated accountability and integrity in the performance of duties.
